First institution to join Dutch education platform SURFsoc

Earlier this year Fox-IT (NL) started a collaboration with SURF, the collaborative organization for ICT in Dutch education and research with over 200 members. Fox-IT delivers the SIEM module within the SURFsoc platform (run on Splunk, implemented by Umbrio).

We are excited to announce that Wageningen University & Research is the first institution to go live on this platform. Several other educational and research institutions will join in the coming weeks, including Fontys, Maastricht University and LUMC.

“For Fox-IT and UMBRiO, our Splunk-partner, it is an enormous challenge to on-board all the institutions but this week our team has taken the first hurdle to bring Wageningen University live in the new multi-tenant environment and 7 more institutions are underway. It is a great privilege to lead such a dedicated team.” says Ad Koolen, programme Manager SURFsoc at Fox-IT.

“For us, the connection to SURFsoc was part of a larger program to take WUR’s information security to a higher level,” says Peter Ras, project manager at WUR. “We started working with Fox-IT immediately after the launch in January. We are proud that we are the first institution to join and that we have managed to achieve this in such a short time, a real team effort.”
