News item in NRC Handelsblad. April 21st on British intelligence services. These belong to the best in the world and their Dutch colleagues expect that they will be active during the Brexit negotiations. Well-informed sources at the Dutch government expect that these services to do their utmost to achieve negotiating benefits through digital espionage.
Ronald Prins, founder of Fox-IT, is well aware of those qualities. In 2013, Fox discovered the infection of the Belgacom systems by the British. “Regin, what the malware is called, belongs to the best of what our hackers have ever seen,” says Prins. He doesn’t have doubts that the British intelligence services will manage to spy digitally during the Brexit negotiations. “The possibility that the British will hack the Brexit negotiations is high on my list. I’m sure they can get everywhere and that we are not able to prevent this.”
