                    As of 16 October 2008, IT Security specialist Fox-IT has joined The Maastricht Forensic Institute (TMFI), the Dutch forensic institute that was launched on 1 May 2008 and has been investigating criminal cases since 1 September 2008.                 <title><![CDATA[Dutch National Crime Squad announces takedown of dangerous botnet]]></title>

                    The High Tech Crime Team (THTC) of the National Crime Squad today announced the takedown of a dangerous botnet. The botnet had infected at least 30 million computers worldwide. The botnet was part of the Bredolab network, used by cybercriminals to distribute malware to unsuspecting users’ computers.

Working in close collaboration with a Dutch hosting provider, the Dutch Forensic Institute (NFI), the internet security company Fox-IT and GOVCERT.NL, the Dutch computer emergency response team, 143 computer servers have now been seized and disconnected  from the internet.

On 5 October the Canadian company Route1 began collaborating with Fox-IT to offer this secure teleworking solution in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. It will enable organisations such as NATO, Defence, the police and financial institutions to use this secure and easy teleworking solution. Within government departments this solution is aimed at the RESTRICTED level.
