Fox-IT opens new office in Aruba

Brute force was needed at the new Fox-IT office building at Boegoeroei at their official opening last Thursday: instead of cutting a ribbon, guest of honor and founder Menno van der Marel had to cut open a padlock. It was not an easy task and therefore Menno received a round of applause when he finally succeeded. The padlock symbolized the trustworthiness, security and reliability of Fox-IT. Guests at the event included Vasco’s Maurice Stolzenbach from the Netherlands as well as various managers and representatives of Aruba’s and Curaçao’s banks and businesses. Fox-IT is Vasco’s reseller of tokens, like the ones the Aruba Bank uses for logging in.

Fox-IT is not new on the island; we have already been working here during the past two and a half years,’’ tells regional manager Eric Eekhof. With its home base in Holland, the security experts have become a well-known name worldwide. Eric Eekhof has been with the firm almost since its beginning ten years ago; plans for branching out include the other Caribbean islands.

The important move to a `real’ office may be viewed as a signal of Fox-IT’s identity branding and seriousness. And that is a step forward. ``Our personnel is highly educated in various IT security areas; everyone has been approved by certain government agencies so that they are equipped to deal with sensitive information, for instance police, judicial and governmental reports. Our work standard and ethics are very high indeed,’’ informs Eric, who adds that the new office also includes a training facility.

So what is it exactly that Fox-IT does? ``We provide tailor-made solutions in the information & IT security field. This includes solutions against hacking, technical audits as well as a 24-hour network monitoring service and we educate and train IT people for this security niche,’’ explains Eric. ``In short, we provide solutions to complex security problems.’’

As glasses of champagne were raised in a toast to Fox-IT’s continued success at its new Boegoeroei location, the mellow tones of the steel pan player could be heard while Taste of Belgium took expert care of the catering of the festive affair.
