Fox DataDiode receives Common Criteria EAL4+

Fox-IT, the expert on IT security, announced today that the Fox DataDiode is the first Dutch product that has received the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 Augmented (EAL4+) certification according to the Dutch schedule. With this certification the Fox DataDiode fully complies with the IT security standards approved by the International Standards Organization (ISO).

Common Criteria EAL 4+ is one of the most respected certifications in the industry and receiving this for the Fox DataDiode shows Fox-IT’s continuing commitment to providing customers with the security solutions that meet their stringent and specific requirements. The certification proves that the Fox DataDiode is an IT solution that meets the highest security requirements.
‘We knew the Fox DataDiode met the highest security requirements, but to have it officially confirmed with the EAL4+ certification is a great reward for us’, says Bartek Gedrojc, Fox DataDiode product manager. ‘This certification is recognized internationally which enables us to be even more successful in the international market’.

The Fox DataDiode, a truly secure solution, transfers data in real-time and continuously between two networks of different or equal security levels without compromising the security of either network.
It is unique in its design:  a smart combination of hardware components guaranteeing rock-solid security and software components providing the flexibility needed in actual customer environments.

After a great collaboration with an accredited laboratory for Common Criteria evaluations in the Netherlands, Brightsight, the Fox DataDiode received the Common Criteria EAL4+ after just seven months.

Common Criteria evaluations involve formal rigorous analysis and testing to examine security aspects of a product or system. Extensive testing activities involve a comprehensive and formally repeatable process, confirming that the security product operates as claimed by the manufacturer. Security weaknesses and potential vulnerabilities have been given much attention during the Fox DataDiode evaluation.

The Common Criteria for IT Security Evaluations, also known as ISO standard 15408, was developed by the national security organizations of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and The Netherlands. It provides a broad range of evaluation criteria for many types of commercial and government-only IT security products. EAL 4+ is the highest mutually recognized assurance level amongst the participating countries.
