Data encryption provides the certainty that when a desktop or laptop is stolen, nobody will be able to access any confidential information held on it. Provided the software employed for this purpose is written correctly and uses the right algorithms, this is an excellent way of safeguarding data confidentiality and security – not just within the walls of the organization, but also in the outside world.

The only fully secure way to achieve this on a computer is to encrypt the entire hard disk and to employ a strong form of user authentication. SafeGuard Easy uses this method and has been accorded the 'State Secret: Confidential' classification level by the Dutch Intelligence Service, the AIVD, for safeguarding information held on desktops and laptops.
