The Netherlands National Communications Security Agency (NBV) deals with the security of confidential and secret government information. The agency seeks out suitable information security products. Before these receive final approval, they are submitted to an extensive process of screening, testing and evaluation. Fox Crypto, which is part of Fox-IT, develops several of these products.The NBV is part of the General Intelligence and Security Service. They enable the Dutch government to guarantee the level of confidentiality and integrity appropriate to each level of classification for special information held on ICT systems. These classification levels range from confidential ministry information to ‘State Secret - Top Secret ’, the most stringent security category.
The role of Fox Crypto
As partner of the NBV, Fox-IT has a variety of roles. Fox-IT's specialists provide specific expertise in evaluating and testing certain products. Alternatively, they may be involved in developing and differentiating certain semi-finished products. The NBV also calls in Fox-IT’s cryptography specialists to assist with developing customized solutions involving safeguarding information at the level of "State Secret. Secret".
Fox-IT has its own product line in the area of cryptography.
These products are offered to organizations in both the public and private sectors. A significant number of these products have been approved by the NBV for safeguarding information that is classified as state secret (State Secret. Secret). These products include the RedFox cryptographic chip, the Fort Fox File Encryptor (FFFE), the Fox DataDiode (FDD), Secure Inter Networking Architecture (SINA) and Decru Data Fort (encrypted data storage).
